The Addmen OMR software has two special technologies that make it the best OMR software today. This software has the OCR (Optical Character Recognition)and the ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) technologies. While the OCR technology reads printed data, ICR technology has the ability to read handwritten text.
The OMR software is designed to read dark marks on special OMR sheets. This works well in case of OMR answer sheets and to some extent, to forms too. However, certain OMR forms like application forms, admission forms, survey forms or feedback forms are likely to have spaces where a person has to write the information rather than just circling a bubble or putting a tick mark. Earlier, such text had to be typed manually. With the ICR technology, you no longer have to do this manually.
Once the OMR form is completely filled, it is first scanned. These scanned copies are run on the OMR software. The OMR software reads the OMR marks on the sheet and transfers the collected data into an Excel sheet. If the forms have written content on them, the Intelligent Character Recognition software captures the image of the handwritten text and transforms it into machine readable characters. The data read by the ICR software is also exported to an Excel sheet.
Another feature of this technology is that it can read images too. OMR forms like admission forms and application forms require individuals to paste their photographs on a specific slot. The ICR software captures the image of these photographs and saves them in the software database.
If you are using the ICR software for reading handwritten text in the OMR forms, make sure that the text is written clearly. For 100% accuracy, individuals should be asked to write the text in bold font. This way the software would be able to recognize all the characters clearly.
